Absinthe Party

Posted in Drinks, absinthe with tags , , , on April 15, 2008 by eyelinerrobot

Here is a time lapse video of an absinthe party I helped throw a couple weeks ago.

What a wonderful night.

It is a great way for everyone to try absinthe, and a cheap way. Splitting the 50-60 dollars for a bottle of Kubler between eight people is no problem at all, and there will be enough for everyone. Make sure you bring instruments, books, and lots of music. Champaign too. Death In The Afternoons are easy and delicious.

Make sure you bring plenty of sugar cubes, cold bottled water (a sports cap makes for an easy drip) and for chrissakes KNOW HOW TO PREPARE A PROPER GLASS OF ABSINTHE.

Absinthe Is Legal Again! Prepare for severely less coherent posts…

I have been stalking lovely lady Absinthe since I had my first taste. Unfortunately it was only available in Europe and with shipping could easily cost more than a hundred dollars a bottle. Two brands have sidestepped the asinine and antique laws regulating certain botanicals contained by Absinthe, these are now available in the US.

Lucid is a classic Verte (green absinthe).

Kubler is a Swiss style La Bleue (clear absinthe).

I am purchasing a bottle of Lucid tomorrow at Binnys (great liquor store).

I shall write (update I just did a review!) a review of it while still somewhat sober and will do the same as soon as I can get my hands on the Kubler (I can only find Lucid in Chicago stores so far).

If you want to learn more about Absinthe you should go to the Wormwood Society Forums. They have anything and more you ever wanted to know about Absinthe.

:end of line

Update- Heres how to prepare a nice glass of Absinthe.
